An intern’s perspective

The PATCHES team is fortunate to work closely with The University of Western Australia and McCusker Centre for Citizenship to allow for students to gain practical experience in the research programs and fieldwork we undertake.  Nic Mattock, UWA Medicine student joined the PATCHES team on a 4-day outreach clinic in the Kimberley area in November 2016.  The visit included assessing children from remote communities within the East Kimberley in-conjunction with local government agencies, hospitals, families and community schools.  Nic (pictured below, far right) recently shared his experiences and perspective via the McCusker Centre website.  We are always keen to engage with students who may be interested in FASD research.  If you are a student or would like to refer a student, please email us at
