I have approximately 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, providing family centred therapy and support to people with disabilities and their families. A significant proportion of this experience in rural and remote settings (the East Kimberley, Far North Queensland and South West W.A.). I graduated with honours, from Curtin University in 1996.
I am passionate about assisting people to achieve their goals and reach their potential in all of their daily activities.
I am particularly interested in how the brain processes information (from the external environment and from within our own bodies) and the impact that this has on coordination, attention, behaviour and learning. Some of the skills that that I can assist with include handwriting, fine motor coordination, sensory processing, postural control/core stability, attention and concentration, eating difficulties, toilet training, self-care skills, play skills and behaviour.
I have completed additional training in many specialty treatment techniques including neurodevelopmental therapy, sensory processing, the Alert Program, the Wilbarger Therapressure protocol for the treatment of sensory defensiveness, Perceive Recall Plan Perform system of task analysis, Hannen – You Make the Difference and the ‘Floortime’ Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship based model of therapy.
